What the evidence tells us
The World Bank reports growing account ownership and exceptionally widespread mobile-money use in sub-Saharan Africa. The remaining research problem is broader than opening accounts: people need services they can understand and use consistently. Household survey indicators should be complemented by operational evidence when studying failed transactions.
Read the underlying source ↗Axum’s research and commercialisation agenda
Axum proposes practical tools for informal enterprises and people who need assisted access. Discovery should examine the causes of recordkeeping errors or failed transactions before choosing a technology. A commercial product should demonstrate sustained usefulness at a cost its intended customers can afford.
These are proposed research directions. Patentability and commercial viability remain to be established for each invention.
